Creating Tests and Questions
A hash sign (#) means the value is a primary key in the database. Only numbers and letters are allowed. No white space is allowed. If this value is used again in any other data entry element, it must be used exactly as it was entered the first time. Everything is case sensitive.
It is recommended that you keep a record of student, subject class, subject and test IDs.
The pre-filled in values you will find after creating the test and first question are for the test and question you have just created, not for anything in the future. You therefore have to increment the relevant numbers, e.g. if you see possible answer number c increment it to d for the next possible answer.
Loading Tests
The date is the date beyond which this test will not be allowed to load - i.e. the last possible date this test is to be written.
Note that if you change the date of the test in two years time, you can have the same test written again. Now just how many times can you do that before the students catch on? Even if they do, the students from two years ago do not have copies of the old test (unless you gave it to them) and are very unlikely to remember the questions and answers.
If you select Show Test the test, its questions and possible answers will all be displayed on a new page. Use the browser back-button to get back to this page
Tests won't load unless they are set loadable from the activation page. It is very highly recommended that you set the test as loadable only during the time it has to be written. That only means a student can load a test or not load a test for the purpose of writing a test. Teachers will still be able to view a test. If a student has written a test he cannot load the same test again, in any case.
Alternative test creation. If you would prefer to not load answers and possibilities from different fill-in forms, use this method. This does however mean that you have to enter all questions and all possibilities for each question in one session. It also means that you have to know in advance exactly how many questions your test is going to have and how many possibilities each question is going to have. You can later add questions and possibilities from the fill-in forms for questions and possibilities on this page. Note that your test will not load unless all questions and possibilities have been filled in. Also note that if you allow your session object to expire (tarry over filling in all your questions and answers for more than approximately half an hour before submitting), you will lose everything you filled in and be redirected to the log-in page to sign in again. This is not applicable to students wrting a test. They can take as long as they want to. If this is done for teachers using this method of entering a test, they will leave their computers on with partially entered questions and answers on the screen. It cannot be relied upon that all users will know how to lock the screen or their computers, or even if some of them know, that they will do so. It can also not be relied upon that all will have computers in rooms inaccessible to students. This is a security consideration.
The Z option will not show when creting a test in any way. It will however display when the students write the test if the test is negatively graded.

Please enter the Test identifier exactly as you used it to create the test. That is the value you filled in the field labeled #Test in the Test form above. Each question has to know to which test it belongs to. Enter a number only for the question number. The question itself can be up to several pages long.
Both the test identifier and the question number are used to create a question private key. They both have to be filled in when a question is deleted or updated. There is no way to update the test a question belongs to or the number of the question. To change those delete the question and start anew for this question. And do be a bit more careful...

Please enter the Test identifier and Question no exactly as you used it to create the test and question. That is the value you filled in the field labeled #Test in the Test form at the top and the Question No field above. Each possible answer has to know the to which test and question it belongs to. Enter a number only for the question number. For the possible answer enter a character starting with the letter a. It will automatically be capitalized. The possible answer itself can be up to several pages long.
The test identifier, question number and possible answer character are all used to create a possible answer private key. All of them have to be filled in when a possible answer is deleted or updated. There is no way to update the test or question a possible answer belongs to, or the number of the possible answer. To change those delete the possible answer and start anew for this possible answer. And do be a bit more careful...
Check the check-box to indicate that an answer is the correct one for the question. This will be used when grading the test. To change this either check or uncheck it on updating the possible answer.
Set Tests Loadable
To make it harder to cheat using jTest, students can only load tests to take if the test has been set loadable. A test should be set loadable shortly before it is to be taken.
By the same token, tests should be set unloadable soon after they have been taken. This does not influence seeing the result of a test, at all.
